Northbrook Weekly Police Report
 

The following incidents were included in the official reports of the Northbrook Police Department for the week of July 21 through July 27. Any persons listed are assumed to be innocent until found guilty by a court of law. It is the policy of this site to not to print the names af anyone under 18 years of age or those whose age cannot be determined from the police report.

Please note that this report will not be updated during the weeks of August 4th and August 11th.

BURGLARY
On Monday a man reported that he had. noticed a bicycle that resembled his bike (a silver Rockhopper Specialized) that had been stolen two weeks previously, but hadn't been reported. A male came out of the Walgreens and got on to the bicycle and he asked the male where he got the bicycle and the male replied he had bought it about a month before and left. The man followed the male to the 1000 block of Butternut where he got off the bicycle and left on foot. The area was checked with without result. The homeowner in the 1000 block of Briarwood reported that a bicycle taken out of the garage about the time the male left on foot. Later a resident of the 2200 block of Center reported finding a white Huffy North Woods mountain bike bicycle abandoned In the bushes in her front yard.

On Monday a resident of the 1ooo block of Sussex reported that her wallet had been taken from the trunk of her car, which had been in the garage. The garage door had been left open.

On Friday someone entered an unlocked ’97 Buick on the 2500 block of Burgundy and removed an I-Pass, two first aid kits, a key to the owner’s business and the vehicle insurance card.

On Saturday it was reported that someone entered an unlocked Nissan Maxima in the parking lot of the Skate Park on the 1700 block of Techny and removed his wallet from the center console.


DISORDERLY CONDUCT
On Saturday a resident of the 1100 bock of White Mountain reported that two of her guests, who were sitting in the backyard, were hit with unknown objects, possibly from a pellet gun.

DUI
On Sunday Chang Yoo of 3631 Pebble Beach was stopped for Improper Lane Usage and subsequently charged with DUI. He was transported to the police station, processed and released on bond.

On Sunday Tatiana Maya of 2433 W. Francisco in Chicago was stopped by police and charged with Speeding, Improper Lane Usage, No Insurance and DUI. She was transported to the police station, processed and released on bond.


CONSUMPTION BY A MINOR
On Thursday police investigating a criminal damage case went to 850 Ash. The officer determined that a number of under age minors were consuming alcohol. Curtis Bernard of 850 Ash and Taylor Pauls Of 2346 Peachtree were charged with Consumption of Alcohol by Minor and were processed and released on bond. Alaina Maraffino of 25 Mulberry in Deerfield and a 16 year old minor from Northbrook were issued local ordinance tickets.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On Wednesday it was reported that someone had dumped a bottle of oil on the front of a vehicle that was parked on the 2200 block of Catherine. The antenna which was located on the front of his vehicle was also broken off. Complaints will be signed.

POSSESSION OF ALCOHOL
On Saturday and officer observed 19 year old Igor Prilutsky of 3116 Antelope Springs sitting on a bench drinking alcoholic beverages with an adult. Mr. Prilutsky was charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. He was issued a ticket and released

POSSESSION OF CANNABIS
On Wednesday an officer responding to a noise complaint met with Matthew Fritz of 1246 Daryl in the back yard of that address. Fritz reported that he had some friends over for a bon fire. The officer smelled burnt cannabis while talking to the homeowner and observed a glass pipe on the patio near a chair, along with several cans of beer on the patio. The officer asked the group if they had any cannabis or paraphernalia and Lee Shaw of 94180N. Green Bay in Brown Deer, Ohio and Neal Bassett of 728 Helen admitted to having cannabis. They were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (greater than 2.5 grams), Paraphernalia and Consumption of Alcohol. Shaw was also charged with Delivery of Alcohol to a Minor. Tyler Cullitan of 1588 Chapel Ct., Brad Altbach of 3736 Lawson in Glenview and Mathew Fritz were charged with Consumption of Alcohol. Everyone was issued local ordinance tickets and released. R/O seized pipes, beer, and green leafy substance and issued LO tickets.

THEFT
On Monday someone took a bike which was gray in color with black and white decals from the 1500 block of Maple.

On Tuesday an officer on patrol on Crestwood observed a 15 year old Northbrook resident riding a bicycle and out past curfew. The bike had earlier been reported stolen from the Do It Best Hardware store on the 1900 block of Cherry. The juvenile was transported to police station for the curfew violation where he related he decided to steal the bike and then took it to a friend’s house and to spray paint it to avoid getting caught. He was released to his mother with a ticket for curfew. Other charges regarding stealing the bike and damaging the bike is pending a juvenile officer.

On Wednesday Geraldo Mendoza of 5440 N. Ashland in Chicago was apprehended by Loehmann’s security after fleeing the store with six shirts having a total value of $579.93.He was charged with Felony Retail Theft, placed under arrest, transported to PD processed and placed in cell pending bond hearing. A woman with Mendoza was not apprehended.

On Wednesday it was reported that someone had stolen $120.00 USC from a wallet in the lifeguard office at the Meadowhill Aquatic Center on the 1500 block of Maple.


ZERO TOLERANCE
On Friday, Sarah Skipworth of 419 Cable Ct. in Schaumburg was stopped for a traffic infraction and the officer determined that she had been drinking. She was charged with Zero Tolerance, Speeding and Failure to Signal. She was transported to the police station, issued citations and released.
