English and literacy classes at the Northbrook Public Library are conducted by Oakton Community College. For information call 847-635-1426.

Fall Session:

Daytime Class:
Classes meet Monday and Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Registration: Monday, September 8 from 12:15 to 2:45 p.m.

Evening Class:
Classes meet Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Registration: Monday, September 8 from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Materials


Learning English:

Adult Basic Reading Collection - consisting of books and cassettes.

Videos and Audiocassettes - of English as a second language.


Foreign Language Materials:

Books - The library has special collections of books in Korean, Polish and Russian. We have smaller collections of books in Chinese, German, French, Hebrew and Spanish. We can also obtain books in foreign languages from other libraries for Northbrook patrons. Ask at the Reader Services or Reference Desk for more information or call our Interlibrary Loan Department at 272-6224 x243.

Newspapers & Magazines - Subscriptions include L'Express (French), Shin Dong A (Korean), Sinorama (Chinese), Vestnik (Russian), and Der Spiegel (German).

Videos - The Multimedia Department has a large collection of foreign films with English subtitles.
