District was the first Park District in the United States to be
accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association.
Park District activities for children and adults include: a full
performing art program; an extensive visual arts program; early
childhood & preschool; a nationally known figure skating program;
before and after school programs; three golf courses including
a championship 18-hole course; quality summer camps, workshops
and clinics; seasonal cross country skiing and snow shoeing; two
outdoor aquatic centers; athletics and fitness programs; a senior
enrichment program with weekly activities and a cycling velodrome.
