Enjoy award-winning short films from around the world at the library on Saturday, November 15 at 2:00pm
Join us in the Auditorium for a truly special family experience, the 9th Annual Northbrook International Children’s Film Festival. At this special event, kids and caregivers can enjoy a curated selection of award-winning short films from around the world, vote for their favorite, and then have the chance to meet some of the film's directors!
Advance registration is required for all Library programs. You do not need a library card to register.
Co-hosted by the Chicago-based International Children’s Media Center, the live festival screening will showcase eleven captivating films from eight different countries: Japan, the U.K., France, Iran, Belgium, Spain, and the U.S. These unique films are sure to inspire the imaginations of children and adults alike. These short films will appeal to children ages 5-10, but even older kids will find something to love in this international mini-festival.
Bold ideas and magical moments shine through eleven short films from seven countries — nine of them premieres! From mischievous sunbunnies to young change-makers, these stories celebrate friendship, courage, and imagination across cultures.
Kids will giggle at the playful pancake feud in Mojappi (It’s Mine!) (Japan), join 11-year-old prodigy Nova as she inspires action in Change (USA), and travel to medieval Florence in The Boy Who Would Become a Knight (Italy).
You Are Not Small (Chicago premiere) by Stephen Hawking's daughter, author Lucy Hawking, and We Are Water Protectors (Chicago premiere) are both based on books!
