An Expert Panel Shares Strategies for Confronting Misinformation on March 14

Northbrook Public Library is partnering with the League of Women Voters to invite you to attend “Fact, Fiction, or Opinion? How to Become a Well Informed Voter and Citizen,” an expert panel discussion on the importance of media literacy and finding unbiased, factual information on Tuesday, March 14 from 7:00-8:00pm. A Q&A will follow the discussion.

This special event will be held in person in the Auditorium and also live-streamed on YouTube. It is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required to attend or stream (a library card is not required to register). Learn more or register here or call 847-272-6224.

Presented by the League of Women Voters of Glenview/Glencoe in partnership with Northbrook and other area libraries, the discussion will be moderated by League of Women Voters of Wheaton board member, Barbara Laimins.

The panelists include:

  • Michael Spikes, director of Northwestern University's Teach for Chicago Journalism program
  • DeMario Phipps-Smith, journalist and senior manager of community learning at the News Literacy Project
  • Joe Coughlin, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Record North Shore
