The 23rd season of Fine Arts Fall, the Northbrook Public Library’s annual concert series, will conclude with a Gala Finale Concert on Sunday, January 3 at 2pm in the Library’s Auditorium.
The Gala Finale Concert, titled “Golden Age of Classical Music,” promises a magnificent afternoon of virtuosic piano and strings chamber music. The program features select musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera Orchestra: Cyrus Forough (violinist), Sarah Michelle Greene (violinist), Charles Pikler (violinist), Mark Lekas (cellist), Collins Trier (double bass), and Susan Merdinger (pianist). The “Golden Age of Classical Music” program features Field’s “Piano Quintet”, Glinka’s rarely-performed “Grande Sextet,” and Dvorak’s “Piano Quintet.”
While the January 3 finale concert closes the 23rd Fine Arts Fall season, it also introduces the Library’s host of live music concerts for 2016. The first Parisian Salon Concert of the year features violinist Consuelo Lepauw on January 8 at 7:30pm. Alfonso Ponticelli and Swing Gitan, a Gypsy jazz trio, plays a mix of jubilant swing and feisty guitar music at the Jazz Blues Salon Concert on January 15 at 7:30pm. Finally, the Concerts on 3 classical music series begins on Sunday, February 7 at 2pm and continues each Sunday throughout the month.
