The Northbrook Public Library will debut the new Physician’s Lecture Series on Thursday, May 12 at 1pm with a lecture on Preventative Medicine.
Dr. Gregory Wallman, the first physician to speak in the series, is board certified in Internal Medicine. His talk will discuss effective methods to help prevent illness and reduce recurrent illness, focusing on how individuals can work with health care providers to promote and manage their own health. A question and answer period will follow the lecture. Registration for this event is recommended to guarantee entry, but registration is not required.

“[Dr. Wallman’s] program, and the ones that will follow, are geared toward the general public,” said librarian Monique Brada, an organizer of the Physician’s Lecture Series. “This series will provide opportunities for people to get reliable information from expert practitioners in their respective fields of medicine.”
Following Dr. Wallman’s talk on May 12, the Library has already booked two additional lectures: Dr. Jason Robin, who will speak on heart health on July 14, and Dr. Demetrius Maraganore, who will present on brain health on September 8.
The Library envisions the Physician’s Lecture Series as an outlet for members of the community to learn more about their health from reputable sources they can trust.
“Our mission statement emphasizes the importance of access to information in a variety of ways,” said Brada. “These lectures will provide an engaging way for community members to become informed on various health topics from some of the physicians who serve this community.”
