Have you written a book? Are you ready to share it with the community? The Northbrook Public Library is accepting author requests for the first annual Up & Coming Author event, which will be held on Saturday, August 13.
The Up & Coming Author event will provide a space for local authors to meet fans and promote their works. Interested authors must submit their request by the June 30 deadline to be considered. Authors of all genres will be considered, whether they write fiction or nonfiction, or write for adults, young adults, or children. Northbrook residents will receive priority scheduling.
“We have many avid readers at the Library, and we’ve had a lot of interest in our ongoing Evening with the Author series, but I’ve also noticed our patrons have a strong interest in local writers,” said librarian Mike Hominick. “This event is a chance for local authors to share their books and meet new fans, and for the community to hear about a new book from a local writer they may be interested in reading.”
At the Up & Coming Author event on August 13, visitors will be able to mingle with the featured authors as they share their stories, discuss the writing process, and sell signed copies of their books. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. The event will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
“Writing a book is an impressive feat,” said Hominick. “We feel the community will enjoy discovering these writers' works, and learning about what inspired them to put pen to paper.”
The Library is located at 1201 Cedar Lane. For more information on the Up & Coming Author event, please contact the Reader Services department at 847-272-2958 or visit the Up & Coming Author Event request page.
