On Tuesday, October 27 at 7pm, the Northbrook Public Library will host a panel of four mystery writers as part of a special installment of the Evening with the Author series.
“When the Reaper Comes: Four Mystery Writers Share Their Secrets” is a panel discussion featuring local mystery authors Lori Rader-Day (The Black Hour), Susanna Calkins (A Murder at Rosamund's Gate), Jamie Freveletti (Running from the Devil) and Lynne Raimondo (Dante's Wood) for a thrilling examination of mystery novels, just in time for Halloween.
Evening with the Author events normally feature one author, who reads from his or her work and answers audience questions following the reading. Librarian Mike Hominick, the creator of the Evening with the Author series, thinks the panel discussion will be an exciting expedition into one of the Library’s most popular genres.
“While they’re all mystery writers, each author [on the panel] writes a different kind of story within the same genre,” said author series creator Mike Hominick. “I think this way, with this diverse panel, fans of mystery novels can get a sense of the entire genre.”
As with any Evening with the Author event, attendees will be able to ask the authors questions.
“These mystery novels can be twisted, dark, and very clever stories,” said Hominick. “I think people will be most curious to know how these authors get their ideas.”
But what kinds of secrets will these authors share? That mystery will be revealed on October 27.
Each Evening with the Author event is free and open to the public. The Book Bin will provide copies of each panelist’s books for purchase following the event. For more information, please visit www.northbrook.info/evening-author or call the Reader Services department at 847-272-2958.
