The Northbrook Public Library is known for its active schedule of live music performances, and now there’s another concert series joining the mix: the Jazz/Blues Salon, which debuts on Friday, September 18 at 7:30pm.
“Our classical concert series have gone incredibly well over the years, so now we’re branching out to jazz and blues,” said Steve Gianni, MultiMedia Department Manager. “Chicago is so rich with these musicians, and now we’re giving them a new space to perform in the suburbs.”
The new Jazz/Blues Salon Concert series brings Chicago artists who regularly perform in Chicago’s jazz, blues, and folk clubs to Northbrook. Dave Specter, first-tier blues and jazz guitarist and owner of Evanston S.P.A.C.E., will be the first to take the stage on Friday, September 18 at 7:30pm in the Library’s auditorium.
Specter, a Delmark Records artist, has been performing in the Chicago area regularly since 1985. He has been named Critic’s Choice in the Chicago Reader five times to date, and has earned an international reputation as one of the premier talents on the Chicago blues scene. He has recently been featured in Vintage Guitar and Downbeat magazines.
“[Specter] has performed with most of the Chicago blues greats,” said Gianni. “He has always brought intelligence and sharp, crisp playing to the table.”
Admission and parking for concerts at the Library are free. The Northbrook Public Library is located at 1201 Cedar Lane. For more information, please call the MultiMedia Department at 847-272-6224 or visit our website at www.northbrook.info
