Northbrook Public Library Youth Solo Competition

This friendly youth solo competition is open to all musicians (both voice and instrument) ages 11-18. From all submissions, we'll invite one Grand Prize Winner to perform a full recital in our Auditorium, and a second recital at the Wilmette Public Library. We will invite some of the other soloists to perform in a shared recital in our Auditorium.

Applications will be accepted from December 1 through February 10.

Age Group: Ages 11-18 (pre-College)

Instruments: Any instrumentalist/vocalist is welcome to apply.

Repertoire: Any works from the canon of classical/art music.

  • We suggest you choose works that fit into a cohesive recital format. 
  • Chamber ensembles of three or more are not accepted at this time. Please choose either solo works or works with piano accompaniment.

AUDITION MATERIALS

Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and be UNEDITED. 

IMPORTANT

  • You must provide 2 contrasting works or movements. Unedited videos from previous recitals or competitions may be used.
  • You and your instrument must be visible.
  • Please announce your full name at the beginning of the video(s) and the title of each work.
  • Please include your name and the name of the piece in the video title.
  • Up to 2 videos may be submitted (one for each piece).
  • Performance from memory is encouraged, but not required.
  • If the work has accompaniment, you MUST play with an accompanist.
  • The video must be unedited. 

Late submissions and edited video recordings will not be accepted.
