We are sickened by the violent killing of six Asian women in Georgia and we strongly support our Asian staff and patrons and stand against the acts of violence and discrimination against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders that have increased in the past year.
One of our core values is inclusion, which means creating a welcoming environment for everyone and expressing our respect for differences in our service and resources. We want everyone in the community to feel welcomed and respected when they come into the library and use our resources.
We will continue to work with the community to educate and promote inclusion and combat racism in all of its forms while offering training to staff to ensure we are creating an inclusive environment at the library. With our community partners, we will solicit feedback, listen, and embrace equity, diversity, and inclusion in a community-wide effort.
