Need to convert your old VHS tapes to DVD? You can borrow one of the Library's three DVD/VCR recorders so you can start transferring your VHS tapes on your own. Each recorder comes in a case with all the components you need. You can place a hold on the DVD/VCR recorder using our catalog.
Visit the Circulation Desk to Check Out a Recorder
DVD/VCR recorders go out for 21 days and may be renewed if no one is waiting. Your library card must be in good standing.
Please turn the case and all its components to the check out desk in the lobby.
The kit includes:
- 1 Magnavox or Funai brand DVD recorder/VCR (both are identical)
- 1 remote control
- 1 HDMI cable
- 1 RCA composite cable
- 1 owner's manual
- 1 quick start guide
- 1 IBEX carrying case
IMPORTANT NOTE: Only DVD-R or DVD-RW discs work with this unit. Discs can be purchased at most convenience and electronics stores.
Take Home the DVD/VCR Recorder and Transfer Your Tapes
There is no VHS to DVD transfer service or station at the Library, but the kit you check out includes a quick start guide that shows you how to transfer your own tapes. View our step-by-step instructional video here:
