Summer Reading Returns on June 1: Read, Renew, Repeat

Read Renew Repeat Summer Reading Logo

Summer Reading is back with a theme designed to help readers of all ages connect with nature starting June 1

Northbrook Public Library invites you to "Read, Renew, Repeat" with our Summer Reading Challenge. Starting Saturday, June 1, we encourage the community to sign up at the library or participate online using the Beanstack app or website. Learn more about participating online on our Summer Reading web page.

Our "Read, Renew, Repeat" theme focuses on promoting outdoor activities and connecting with nature. These activities, along with reading, can help boost your mental, emotional, and physical health. So, this summer, we recommend that you take some time to enjoy your favorite book, eBook, or audiobook, at their favorite outdoor spot.

How Summer Reading Works

We have a Summer Reading Challenge for all ages—birth through adult. Adults who sign up and log just four or more books this summer will receive a thermal grocery bag and a coupon for a free book from the Friends' Bookshop. They will also be entered into weekly gift card drawings and our Grand Prize Drawing—a one-year household membership to the Chicago Botanic Garden.

Our Youth and Teen Summer Reading programs offer coupons and prizes, like a free book, as well as the chance to be entered into our Grand Prize Drawing.

Our Baby Summer Reading program encourages caregivers to engage in fun literacy activities with their little ones (like spending 10 cuddly minutes reading together). After they complete the challenges, they will receive a special prize and a free book.

Play our Summer Reading Scavenger Hunt from June 1-7

We're kicking off Summer Reading with a fun all-ages Scavenger Hunt around the library from June 1-7. You can pick up a scavenger hunt form at any of our service desks starting June 1. And while you're here, sign up for Summer Reading at the library and pick up a free "Read, Renew, Repeat" magnet, while supplies last.

Because the goal is to encourage a lifelong love of reading, we have a Summer Reading Challenge for babies, youth, teens, and adults. And although reading is its own reward, we also have fun challenges and prizes throughout the program.

Summer Reading is sponsored by the Friends of the Northbrook Public Library and the Thomas & Kathleen Laird Family Foundation

We thank all of our Summer Reading sponsors for their support of this great community program.
